Summer is approaching, and many housewives will take advantage of the holidays to clean and organize winter clothes. Among them, pure sweaters are the most troublesome because they tend to shrink after washing. An adult's clothing often becomes "children's clothing". Here, I will teach you a tip: for severely shrinking sweaters, you might as well put them in a steamer and then stretch them while they are hot to restore them to their original size.

This is because wool fibers have the characteristics of thermal plasticity, that is, under a certain humidity and temperature, the wool can easily change its shape and can remain undeformed after cooling. Therefore, we can use the action of hot steam to open the scales of the hair fibers and restore the original elasticity and fluffy. Then, after appropriate stretching, the sweater can be restored to its original state. The specific method is as follows:

Sweater shrinks and restores its original state Method 1:

First add shampoo to a basin of warm water at about 30 degrees Celsius, wash the sweater, wrap it with cloth and dehydrate it; take a household steamer, scrub the steamer and pot lid with dish so as to remove the oil mark. Add appropriate amount of water to the steamer and bring to a boil. Fold the washed sweater and put it in the steamer. After steaming for about ten minutes, stop the fire. Put on thick gloves and take out the sweater. Cut a piece of thick cardboard (including two sleeves) of the original size of the sweater. It is best to paste a rubber strip at the cutter to avoid scraping the clothes. Then put the sweater on the thick cardboard, pull the corners, collars and cuffs into the size of a thick cardboard, and fix it with a pin or clip. Individual parts can be stretched with hands. After cooling completely, remove the cardboard and spread the sweater flat and dry it. It should be noted that before stretching, you should be clear about the total length of the sweater and the length ratio of each part, and you should not stretch too much at once. After pulling all, use a ruler to measure the total length. If the length is not enough, repeat it.

Inject warm water into the washbasin, drip a small amount of household ammonia water, and then soak the sweater, and the soap ingredients left on the wool will dissolve. Gently stretch the reduced part with both hands, then rinse and dry. When half dry, first pull it open with your hands to form the original shape. After ironing it with an iron, you can restore the original size.
