The chief technology officer switched to OpenAI, and Intel CEO Chen Liwu took charge of the AI business.
Chip maker Intel (Intel) said on the 10th that CEO Lip-Bu Tan will personally lead the AI business unit. Intel Chief Technology Officer and AI Director Katie previously announced his switch to OpenAI, the developer of chatbot ChatGPT.
In January, Intel underwent a management reorganization, and Sachin Katti, who leads the AI business, announced on the social platform X that he would join OpenAI.
Intel stated in a statement: "We thank Carter for his past contributions and wish him success in the future. Next, CEO Chen Liwu will lead the AI and advanced technology team and work closely with the team. AI remains one of Intel's most important strategic priorities, and we will focus on promoting technology and product roadmaps to meet the needs of emerging AI applications."

Chen Liwu took office in March and set out to reverse Intel's decline. Since then, many senior executives have resigned. Intel's foundry business has struggled to attract major customers and its development has suffered setbacks; Intel has yet to launch products that can compete with NVIDIA (Nvidia) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) AI data center chips.
