Manchester United have signed Cunha and Mbemo on the front line this summer window, and the Red Devils are making every effort to sign Leipzig forward Cesco. The Manchester Evening News explained why Manchester United can continue to introduce new players without a big sale.

Manchester United is confident that they will provide Sesco with a transfer fee of up to £79 million before selling any members of the "abandoned squad". Newcastle had originally wanted to sign Sesco as a replacement for Isaac, which might go to Liverpool, but now the Magpies seem to have abandoned the plan. Although Newcastle has hinted that Manchester United is going well in signing Cesco, club insiders have denied it.

Rashford signed a one-year lease with Barcelona, and his salary was fully borne by Barcelona, saving Manchester United about £14 million. Therefore, the Red Devils executives believe that the team has the ability to complete the Sesco deal without rushing to sell players.

Manchester United earned £20.7 million by selling youth training players Ilanga, AF and Max Oyedele. In addition, Chelsea paid Manchester United a penalty of £5 million for not buying out Sancho. Manchester United adopted a frugal strategy this winter window, signing Dogu for £25 million upfront fees and loaned Rashford and Anthony to Villa and Betis respectively, with most of the players' salaries being borne by these two clubs. The transaction to sign Cunya and Mbemo was paid in installments, and although the two players' transfer fees totaled £133.5 million, the costs would be shared over a period of time. Manchester United's matching of PSR rules has also improved, thanks to the club's second round of layoffs in the past two years. Manchester United's staff has dropped by about one-third since Sir Ratcliff became a minority shareholder in February 2024.

Manchester United will not count the two expensive signings of Casemiro and Anthony in the next three years. When they joined the Red Devils in August 2022, the total transfer fee for the two reached 156.3 million pounds. Manchester United still plans to sell "abandoned squad" members Sancho, Anthony, Garnacho and Malaysia, and these transfers are expected to make progress before the transfer deadline on September 1.

Chelsea is interested in Garnacho, Juventus and Dortmund have also had informal discussions about Sancho's transfer, while Malaysia is rumored to be a possible transfer to the Saudi professional league. Manchester United insiders stressed that they still need to sell some veteran players in the next year.
