Manchester City will have a warm-up match with Palermo in Italy. Manchester City midfielder Foden was interviewed by "Sports Milan" during this period and talked about multiple topics.

Are you happy to start the new season?

"Yes. Our game in Palermo will be a high-quality game. We need to get back to our best form against strong opponents and prepare for the new season. I am very happy because I like playing against teams I haven't played before."

Considering that this is your only warm-up match, is it more important?

"We have to draw from this game what we need: physical fitness and rhythm of the game. We have to take it seriously and end the game in good shape. I really look forward to it."

What are your personal expectations for next season?

"I just want to be myself, let everything on the court happen naturally, keep a smile on the court."

But it didn't work out last season, right?

"Yes, many things are not meeting expectations, and it is not a person's fault. As a team, we have to accept the reality that we have not reached our due level and have not achieved our goals. This has affected all of us. But these are all in the past, and now we have to look forward and start the new season with all our might."

How do you think you are in the current state?

"It's hard to say now. I played well in the Club World Cup, but I still need more games to really show my form."

What are your overall expectations for Manchester City in the new season?

"We are going to reach the highest level. We have brought in some high-level players and we need their help. Now our roster is deeper, which is what we need in a long, intensive, and inevitable injury season. Having a deep lineup will help us get closer to winning the trophy."

You are 25 years old and are already the 9th season of the first team. Do you think you are a veteran?

"No, I don't think so. There are many more experienced teammates than me, such as B Se and Gundogan. I just feel like I'm a member of the team, quite ordinary."

But many people think you are already a superstar.

"I won't think about this. I just focus on being the person I want to be, and try my best to play to the highest level. Of course I am happy to be appreciated."

What kind of person are you outside the court?

"I like to be relaxed and like to joke. I am a family-oriented person, I like fishing, and I am a person who simply lives for football."

Is there any inspiration for fishing to bring you to the court?

"Learn to relax. Before the game, many teammates like to get excited, but I prefer to be calm and relax. This is indeed what I learned from fishing."

What is your ideal perfect season like?

"Winning a trophy with the team, or two, or three, or even four. Winning a championship is always the goal, and sharing that feeling with your teammates is the best experience in the world."

Then what is your ideal individual season like?

"Always play with a smile."
