Why does my dog suddenly urinate frequently? Come and see
Eating, drinking, and defecating are four things that almost surround a dog’s day. Urination and defecation are probably the most troublesome things for owners. But why does a dog suddenly urinate frequently? Let me tell you about this issue!
1. Increased water consumption
If the dog drinks more water recently, the urine will increase and the frequency of urination will also increase. Therefore, owners can think back to see if the food they have given their dogs recently is too salty, too dry, or the weather is too hot, the amount of exercise has increased, etc., which will cause the dog to drink a lot of water in a short period of time. If there is a reason for this, the owner should pay attention to adjusting the dog's diet in a timely manner and arrange its amount of exercise reasonably. After timely adjustment, it will slowly slow down.
2. In heat
If the dog is over 6 months old, it may be caused by heat and frequent urination. This is a dog's behavior of declaring territory and looking for a mate. Usually, female dogs will also have symptoms such as swelling of the external genitalia, pink discharge, and a tendency to howl, while male dogs will have symptoms such as climbing on top and often licking the testicles or external genitals.
In this regard, if the owner has the idea of breeding the dog, he can wait 3 to 5 days after the dog is in estrus before breeding. If the owner has no idea of breeding the dog, it is recommended to take the dog to the pet hospital for sterilization or castration as soon as possible.
3. Suffering from urinary system diseases
If your dog not only urinates frequently but also has pain reactions, or has little or no urine, then you should consider that it may be caused by urinary system diseases, such as urethritis, cystitis, bladder stones, etc. Because these diseases will make the dog very painful and make the dog unable to urinate freely, it is recommended to go to the pet hospital for examination and treatment in time.
