Strong ultraviolet radiation will damage the dog's skin, causing the skin to become dry and scaly. Damage is sometimes found on a dog's ears, nose, or belly where the hair is sparse. If the dog is exposed to UV damage year after year, precursor lesions of skin cancer will appear and eventually lead to skin cancer.

So how to prevent your dog from being harmed by ultraviolet rays?

1. Keep your dog in a cool place during the time when ultraviolet rays are the strongest (from about 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

2. Apply sunscreen to the parts of your dog that are most likely to be exposed to the sun, such as the top of the ears and nose. Dogs’ lips are susceptible to sun damage, but there is a high chance that the sunscreen you apply will be swallowed by your dog. To avoid this, you can keep an eye on and make sure your dog’s lips don’t become too red.

3. If your dog’s fur is light-colored, you need to pay special attention. If any part of your dog's skin becomes red or blistered after a day in the sun, you must seek help from your veterinarian immediately.
